LISTS: 3 Witchy books to read this autumn

There’s something about the seasons changing from summer to autumn that makes me what to curl up in a blanket and read books about witches, wizards and anything spooky. I can’t be the only one… Let’s start with the witchy books I’d recommend.

1. Sanctuary by V.V. James

If you crossed The Craft and The OC you’d get Sanctuary. There’s a murder investigation, secrets and drama, it’s an addictive story that I could have read in one sitting.

The book follows four best friends, one of whom is a witch and their children through a traumatic event and the aftermath is full of accusations and hysterics.

To be honest, I want to live in this town and be a witch with a witchy shop so the book is a winner for me.

2. The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

This story is about two young witches who accidentally curse Vivienne’s ex boyfriend and boy does it come back to bite them in the ass.

When I say this book was incredible, I can’t even believe how much I enjoyed it. The book is my perfect level of trash (and I mean that as a compliment), it’s easy to read, the characters are relatable, who doesn’t want to be a low key witch with a hot, male witch who clearly still loves you?!

The Ex Hex reminds me of Sabrina The Teenage Witch from the 90s but for an older audience.

Again with this book, I want to be in it, I want to be Vivienne, I want to curse boys by accident.

3. Mysterious Marie Laveau, Voodoo Queen: And Folk Tales Along The Mississippi by Raymond J. Martinez

Now this one is a little different, stories about Marie Laveau, it includes drawings, tales and folklore. The book even debunks a few of the myths around Laveau which I found super interesting, as well as a little disappointing, but that’s because the the Marie Laveau in American Horror Story: Coven was an incredible character.

Do you have any witchy books you’d recommend for me? I’ll be back with my spooky thrillers later this month.
