SMOOTHIE: The cold buster

I’m convinced that food is the best medicine, I can’t be the only one right? I no longer treat a cold with the regular cold medicine, I simply rest more, drink more water, eat more and eat right! What does that mean? More vitamin C, more vitamin A and less cold medicines, they actually stop the body absorbing these vital vitamins – weird right? Now I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather this week so I searched Pinterest for some vitamin boosting smoothies and came across loads!


**warning** if you don’t like celery, you won’t like this smoothie!

What you need and why:
1 mango – 100% of your vitamin C for the day
1/2 cup celery – vitamin K and fibre
1/3 cup spinach – iron, vitamin K and vitamin A
1 teaspoon fresh ginger – aids digestion, soothes nausea and treats inflammation
1 teaspoon turmeric – anti-inflammatry, regulates diabetes
2 cups of orange juice – vitamin C

Blend it and split in two, one for now and one for a pal or jar it for work tomorrow!

1 serving contains (percentage of daily values):
45% vitamin A
277% vitamin C
